Nuxeo 5.1 M3 / JBoss and Java 6 : 404

Nuxeo 5.1.0M3 does not support Java 6 at all and displays a 404 error page when it is set as the default runtime. Strange. This is the first app I see that simply doesn’t work with this java version.

Anyway, switching to jdk 1.5 fixes the problem.

UPDATE : The problem seems to lie in JBoss 4.04 which is packaged with Nuxeo.

    Thanks for this information. Is this problem fixed with the latest release of JBoss (4.2.0) ? Java 6 usually gives a 20-30% performance improvement in Java apps, so I hope Nuxeo 5.1 final will support it.

    Since more and more users have set Java 6 as their default jre/jdk, it may be worth to add a warning on the Nuxeo download page. There is already a prerequisite for Java5 above the GA link, but I believe a lot of people (me, at least :) ) will read it as "Java 5+" and face the 404 error page...
  • In fact, the installer comes with JBoss 4.0.4 that had some issues with Java 6 (for example: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/EJBTHREE-698). So the problem is more on the JBoss side than on Nuxeo EP.
